THE LAMB

THE LARK

ALTOSHAM, a duo formed when an Englishman in Nashville, Matt Chambers met native, Brenda Broadstreet, justified their fine reputation in the America's muscial mecca with a set of heart-felt songs, bitter-sweet harmonies and country-tinged beauty.

MOE LOUGHRAN (USA) Hailing from Cincinatti via Nashville, this American Music Award winner showed us all how it was done with a timeless voice and presence, sublime accompaniment from guitarist, Ronnda Cadle and songs from the 'Tulip Tree' album, so highly rated by Nashille's Music Row Magazine.

Standing in at the last minute to replace our crocked Norwegian star was WILL REES, former frontman of Bath's angular alt.rock combo HOWLITE and electroacoustic club honcho. Will did a grand job of transferring the epic sound and intense groove of his current incarnation, THE HOT WINGS, to this one-man show full off tension, quirky twists and off-the-wall lyrics. Many agreed it was his best performance for some time.

MANDALA Neil and Francis returned once more to entertain and inspire with their darkly romantic and intensely passionate, electroacoustic folk, performed on guitar and laptop and featuring Neil's haunting, theatrical voice sampled and manipulated to create other-worldly sounds and textures. The word 'atmospheric' doesn't even start to describe what Mandala do.

For 5 weeks in February and March 2005 the electroacoustic club organised a series of special nights called THE ELECTROACOUSTIC SESSIONS, during which we recorded live performances by 17 artists at the Slaughtered Lamb in London for the running jump records compilation album live at the electroacoustic club volume one.

The sessions were engineered by ALI THOBURN, of the Carpetroom Studios, who is also on eof the featured artists on the album. Other acts included on the compilation are SAM BEER, NIALL KELLY, REVERE, JACK PENATE, WILL REES, CONIL, KELLY WATERS, TIM ELLIS, SPACELINE, VANA, ADRAIN SEBASTIAN SCOTT, PAUL RUBINSTEIN, CRAIG GOUK, JAMIE WOON & MANDALA.

The special edition didgipack CD is available on running jump records (cat no. RJR001) from good independent record shops like ROUGH TRADE & SMALLFISH in their London shops as well as online.

The 2nd of THE ELECTROACOUSTIC SESSIONS took off like some kind of sonic-fuelled rocket, with Canadian, CRAIG GOUK (northeast), KELLY WATERS (northwest & west) and STEVE MANN (southwest) performing storming sets, surrounded by microphones on all sides and under pressure to perform for our man with his fingers on the dials, Ali Thoburn (east). A huge number of friends, family, fans and regular performers, including JACK FABIAN (southeast) were in attendance, and responded with generous applause and only the occassional ringtone. The highlight of the night for horror film trivia fans was the revelation that our second Candian perfomer on the night, ADRIANNE SEBASTIAN SCOTT (north & northwest), appeared as a helpless victim in 'American Werewolf in Paris,' the sequel to 'American Werewolf in London,' which features a pub called the Slaughtered Lamb.

SAM BEER has graced the electroacoustic stage on many occassions, stirring up a gritty slide blues storm with his shiny silver Dobra ('Magpie's wet dream' as he puts it), or finger-picking the tastiest folk-blues with bassist David O'Rourke supplying just the right amount of rolling rhythm.
NIALL KELLY
- The velvet-toned, silver-tongued Irishman, who claims Elvis ancestry and hosts the Saturday's open mic at the Ain't Nothin' But The Blues bar. Niall's melancholy warble reaches the proverbial parts, while versatile guitar, JEREMY DURRANT, supplies a small orchestra's-worth of stylish but measured licks. ALI THOBURN - More sublime and intensely emotive alt.rock and sparse blues from one of the most recognisable voices we know. Ali is well-known for recording countless artists in his Carpetroom studio and is the man behind the controls for these recordings. VANA - The most laid-back bluesman to step of the plane from another continent, Mr Van Heerden never fails to treat his guitar anything but tenderly, with the subtlest and most soulful touches and the most swinging rhythms to conjure up an almost hypnotic, voodoo-blues.
