THE CEDAR ~ RUE ROYALE ~ LANA MCDEE & THE O'S
~
CEDARWELL ~
GALLEONS

Chicago folk-pop duo, RUE ROYALE, was formed in 2006 by Brookln and Ruth Dekker. Their influences include Fleetwood Mac, Sufjan Stevens, Zero 7 and the northern UK soul of Elbow and The Doves. Since forming they have released ’The Search For Where To Go’ EP, clocked up hours of radio play across the US, as well as on Xfm, and fine-tuned their subtle harmonies with regular shows in Chicago and much further afield.

DAN CLEWS
~ SHE TELLS LIES ~ TOM PINNOCK

DAN CLEWS draws sonic structure from a diverse spectrum of styles, from the deep roots of country to the early progression of psychedelia and folk. Brandishing a knack for killer melodies the melting pot is stirred in sweeping arcs that often soar to an epic climax.

SHE TELLS LIES: " ...With melancholic electro-acoustic sketches, it's more Elliott Smith introspection than KT Tunstall gusto. Singer Jemima Rose's honeyed Jewel-like vocals rise pleasingly above the purposeful strumming" [VENUE]

LAURIE MCNAMEE ~ THE JOSEPH SWIFT BANDE ~ JAMES BONHAM ~ BLUEBEARD ~ VISUALS BY CAPTIN CAPTIN ~ PAPERWORKARTS

Album Launch for Laurie McNamee's debut album, '...and they will teach us that eternity is but the standing still of time...' Laurie McNamee is joined by Ola Lempke, Daniel Luper, Jon Osbourne and Chloe Vispap-Rich with collabarative artists, Captin Captin, and support from Joseph Swift, James Bonham, Bluebeard and very special guests.

"hauntingly sweet... incredibly sad but with a Tori Amos-like quality and confidence to her voice... a quiet and beautiful melancholy... the kind of sound that makes you stop tracks... Endearingly shy and gentle, with a stage manner blending Bat for Lashes’ Natasha Khan and New Yorkian singer/songwriter Jaymay... whispery ethereal, quiet yet powerful voice, with both insecurity and security expressed simultaneously. For her last song, proving herself somewhat a musical prodigy rather than just another singer with a guitar, Laurie played a heavy wooden harp just as beautifully as she had played the other instruments. At this point, I actually felt a shiver down my spine and it occurred to me that this set in its entirety was the sound of heartbreak; that said, heartbreak sounds pretty good." (SMASH MUSIC 9/10)

BABEL ~ Guests

Babel like "Bay-bull" and not "bar-bell" or "babble". Daniel Coughlan sings and plays the acoustic guitar, Ben Bird does play bass, Daisy Palmer drums, Martin Lanchester plays the violin & Rick Brown plays the guitars.

Born in Bristol in the UK, BABEL started out all kind of small, folky & a bit shy but then fell in dirty love with pounding tamborines and volume knobs. Songs led to concerts, concerts led to the recording two self-financed EPs, 'The Golden Acre EP' & 'The Arc EP'. Both were sold from tables in tiny venues. Some of which reached places far beyond our own postcode. So, to pigeon-hole.. some call us 'folk-rock', some say 'folkabilly', we say 'like the record we all wished we owned". An unlikely goal we know but it's ample carrot to our donkey.

GEMMA RAY
~ LITTLE LOST DAVID ~ WISHFUL THINKING

"Gemma Ray embodies a character from a 50's film noir, delivering something that comes across as both sexy and incredibly dark, drawing everything from Nina Simone to Loretta Lynn, her luscious dinky kinky songs have the power to soothe the worst of heartaches." Midem 2008 magazine. "Like a grittier Lorretta Lynn, she's from the wrong side of the tracks. Uncouthly ace" - NME. "A new sound has come. If you're down and in trouble and you need a helping hand, Gemma Ray has come to share your despair; she will sing you better as she knows just how you feel. She is a people's poet, this is truly excellent music. This is essential listening. 4/5 stars." - Neil Simpson, Spill Magazine.
