HAMILTON (Brakes)
Acoustic Set
~
THE
VOLUNTARY BUTLER SCHEME ~
STEPHEN
JUNIOR
Famously recruited permanently for ex-band British Sea Power after suddenly
disappearing in the crowd banging a drum when his temporarily hired keyboard
skills were not required for one song; this is a man that makes angry hilarity
sound easy. Now frontman for Brakes, mashing punk with Johnny Cash, The Beach
Boys and Leadbelly but with an anarchic sense of black humour, don't expect
Canada's workaholic "Hungry Hamilton" to be any different on his own. He's
funny, he's twangy, he's got issues, he's even had Georg and Orri from Sigur
Ros as a backing band. Mad but musical solo shows you're just going to love...
This is the second of three exclusive acoustic dates at The Slaughtered Lamb,
as part of Eamonn's solo UK tour, with special guests to be announced.

BIANCA
BOHL & DEER ON THE HILL
~ RAISSA
(THE MUMMERS) ~
OWEN NICHOLAS
~ GLOW
GLOBES ~
LOUISE HULL
Lush leftfield pop with layers of lazy latin rhythms, lapsteel and a gentle
country twang from Berlin's BIANCA BOHL - a bit like a sassier Zero 7 going
organic and making mishief in Nashville. Bohl sing and plays keys, guitar,
glockenspiel and melodica and is accompanied by her band, Deer On The Hill,
which includes cello, violin, trombone and trumpet.
"Saloon-folk
from the lounge-and C&W-inspired Bohl" [TIME OUT] "You come in third on 'the
all time most scary german woman list', right after Nico and Nina Hagen and
Klaus Kinski who was also quite a bitch i think" [ANON]
Fresh out of Brighton and spearheaded by South London born singer/songwriter,
Raissa Khan-Panni, THE MUMMERS are like an orchestral urban fairground, with
off-kilter strings, vintage keys, waltzing rhythms and skittery electronics
all colliding with a daringly swooping female vocal. A former busker, addicted
to travelling inspired by her English/Asian/Mexican roots, Raissa already
has two solo albums under her belt and her distinctive voice, coupled with
a unique performing style, has won her many fans and led to collaborations
with Suede and Cypress Hill. Between recording sessions The Mummers have also
taken their 8-piece band live, in the words of the local press "instantly
causing a major stir across town" with a handful of sold-out shows including
a headline at The Komedia in Brighton. Their new single ‘Wonderland’ is an
enchanted pop song brought to life with imagery of fairytales and dreams and
is scheduled for release early next year. Here, Raissa performs a stripped-down,
semi-acoustic set with The Mummers' string section.

REAL
ONES ~
THE ZETLAND
PLAYERS
~ C*BOB
& THE SUNSHINE BLUES
REAL ONES are five childhood friends from Bergen, Norway, adding psychedelic
zest to a city that has already provided the likes of Royksopp, and Kings
of Convenience. If Lennon and McCartney had devised the concept of Sgt Pepper
some forty years later, pulsing with Scandi blood and toying early with the
promotion of free love, they would have devised a very basic blueprint for
Real Ones. These five close comrades share in that affinity, moulding a magical
kaleidoscope of sound. Having known each other for so many years, it should
come as no surprise that despite Real Ones' sound bouncing with tangents,
it's so precise and complete. There's the hearty, autumnal nature of warm
folk, interspersed with a swirling psychedelic brood. Throw in a wave of cute
three-part harmonies, and some devilishly intoxicating melodies to result
in one fulfilling, head-spinning brew.
'Richly melodic, psychedelic-tinged pop' [THE GUARDIAN]
Surrealist, jangling sea shanties from Ugly Nephew Records' THE ZETLAND PLAYERS:
"hauntingly shimmering jangles... a homely brew of chest-beating goo that
catapults you through a myriad of emotions while it freewheels through an
eye-pokingly ramshackle and finitely crooked fun filled sidestepping haze
of furious folk and moments of tranquil mellowness." [LOSING TODAY]

RIO
EN MEDIO ~
THE
WRAITHS ~ JACK
SHIRT ~
MW BEWICK
~ JAMES
SPANKIE
RIO EN MEDIO is the musical adventure of Brooklyn-based
singer/ukulelist Danielle Stech-Homsy, who has performed with Vetiver, Devendra
Banhart, CocoRosie, Grizzly Bear, Tim Fite, Patrick Wolf, Brightblack Morning
Light and Vashti Bunyan. Her debut album, The Bride of Dynamite (released
on Devendra Banhart’s Gnomonsong label) is an intricate collage of layered
vocals, delicately plucked ukulele, ghostly samples and gritty, deconstructed
electronics with contributions from Andy Cabic (Vetiver), Sierra Casady (CocoRosie),
Tim Fite and David Coulter. Her songwriting reflects a vast scope of influence
from techno to traditional folk to early and contemporary classical, drawing
on literature as well as music, from ancient to avant, and incorporating elements
of chance.
The Wraiths are Mog (vocals and electric guitar) and Jon (acoustic guitar
and backing vocals). They take old poems and put them to new music.
"Ethereal and splintered by turns, Bristol's favourite poetry-laced musos
led us into a strange Victorian world of velvet menace. Odes by Dickinson,
Wilde and Hardy, all set to slow-burn acoustic soundtracks that grew assuredly
from placid to menacing." [VENUE MAGAZINE, BRISTOL]
Support from JACK SHIRT with his beautifully minimal and warm, atonal soundtracks,
JAMES SPANKIE's looped violin, guitar and Fender Rhodes workouts and MW BEWICK's
acid-folk, assisted by a a guru box called 'Robinson.'

THE BOYCOTT
COCA-COLA EXPERIENCE
RIO EN MEDIO is the musical adventure of Brooklyn-based
singer/ukulelist Danielle Stech-Homsy, who has performed with Vetiver, Devendra
Banhart, CocoRosie, Grizzly Bear, Tim Fite, Patrick Wolf, Brightblack Morning
Light and Vashti Bunyan. Her debut album, The Bride of Dynamite (released
on Devendra Banhart’s Gnomonsong label) is an intricate collage of layered

Tim Fite and David Coulter. Her songwriting reflects a vast scope of influence
from techno to traditional folk to early and contemporary classical, drawing
on literature as well as music, from ancient to avant, and incorporating elements
of chance.
Support
from the spooky, almost-choral folk of JESS BRYANT, who "... has a voice
that you wouldn't only die for, you'd probably kill for too. Eyes closed in
concentration, the guitar emitting some at times discordant, yet strangely
beautiful notes, Jess produces voluptuously full, rounded vocal sounds which
at times I'm not sure are words, but I'm sure as hell it doesn't matter. What
does matter is that while listening to her I am transported to another place
entirely, a multi-coloured garden of tropical flowers, with no notion of how
I got there. When she sings the line "Oh baby you're seeping away from me",
it's one of the most poignant, tragic, sad and yet wildly beautiful things
I've ever heard. Impossible to categorise, apart from under the 'Utter Genius'
category." [OUT OF THE BEDROOM]
Plus the downtempo blues of Rennes' J.F.BUY, who was last seen duetting here
at The Slaughtered Lamb with Josh T Pearson and is joined this time by Hayley
Moore, and the lo-fi bedsit tales of THE BOYCOTT COCA-COLA EXPERIENCE.

JON
BYRNE ~
ICONS
OF ELEGANCE ~ ROSIE
DOONAN ~
DECLAN BENNETT
~
RYAN
LAUDER
Jon Byrne's live performances have to be seen to be believed; with exuberant
foot stomping, anarchic personality syndrome and broken strings. He then cleverley
whisks you off into a seemingly tranquil state that leads you into a false
sense of security by giving you soft tones, fragile heart stings and emotional
roller coasters, before slapping you in the face once again with the honest
realism of social degeneration and urban cataclysm. Jon Byrne is a 'finger
on the trigger' zeitgeist troubadour.
Support from the razor-edged, psychedlic-sunshine pop of Wakefield chanteuse,
ROSIE DOONAN, who cites Beta Band, Laura Veirs and Free as key infuences,
DECLAN BENNETT, formerly know as SUMLADFROMCOV and Derby's alt-country troubadour,
RYAN LAUDER.

KAT
FLINT ~
LITTLE
LOST DAVID ~
JACK
CHESHIRE ~
JOSH BRAY
The heartfelt but flighty songwriting, melodies and harmonies of Edinburgh's
KAT FLINT sound at times like a more folky, celtic update of The Pretenders
and Chrissie Hynde:
“While
other singer/songwriters follow well-worn paths to mundane places, Flint is
open to the world, spinning musical wonder like a modern saint. To listen
is to fall in love.” [MUSIC OMH]
Sheffield's LITTLE LOST DAVID brings his melancholy, soul-soaked Americana
for the second of three dates in February and March: "Every time I hear David
he never fails to break my heart. And this is his objective. He does not set
out to entertain you in the pleasurable sense. His woeful words are furiously
and gently wrought on his lonesome guitar... his voice is just as potent...
Plus the brilliant lo-fi toybox indie-folk of JACK CHESHIRE and relative newcomer
to the guitar and songwriting, JOSH BRAY, who is fast making up for lost time
with his sparkling folk-revivalist style that recalls Christy Moore and Ray
LaMontagne.

The first outing for Sam Genders' (Tunng) and Stephen Cracknell's (The Memory

Bicycle Thieves' Hannah Caughlin. Support from JAMES YUILL, who recently released
his acclaimed debut single, 'No Surprise' on Chess Club and did a Radio One
session for Huw Stephens. "Even though we're all au fait with the idea of
beats and digital bleeps mixing it with indie songcraft, Yuill has pushed
it further, pressing into service both something of Justice's bolshy bottom
end and Yazoo's plinky melodicism by way of Hot Chip." [TIME OUT]
