The Bear is a glass-fronted building on St Johns Square, visible from Clerkenwell Road and next to the junction with St John Street. It is less than 2 minutes walk from The Slaughtered Lamb, our other regular venue.

nearest tube stations:
BARBICAN &
FARRINGDON
Both are on the Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines. Farringdon is also a THAMESLINK station.

OLD STREET TUBE (northern line) is about a 10 minute walk.

Bus routes: 55/56/153/243

FROM BARBICAN TUBE turn left onto Aldersgate, then left again straight away onto Charterhouse Street. After 100 yards, turn right onto St John Street, then take the left fork that becomes St Johns Lane, which will leads to St Johns Square.

FROM FARRINGDON TUBE
turn left up Cowcross Street, then just before you hit Charterhouse Street, and with Smithfields Market ahead of you, turn left down St John Street. Where the road forks, turn left onto St Johns Lane, which leads to St Johns Square.

FROM OLD STREET TUBE
take one of the Old Street West exits and walk 10 minutes down Old Street (or jump on the 243/55 bus) until it becomes Clerkenwell Road and you will find St Johns Square on the left, just after the crossroads with St John Street.

THE BEAR is a modern, stylish but cosy upstairs bar, with extremely comfy sofas and dim orange and red lighting creating an intimate, loungey atmosphere. It looks out onto St Johns Square and during the summer, we can open the sliding doors/windows onto the square.
